The most authentic food outside of Italy!!! I am Italian, and can honestly tell you that eating at Ideale is like eating in a delicious trattoria in Rome. The food there is AMAZING!!! The pasta is all home-made. Try the gnocchi made with ricotta cheese (extra light & fluffy) or the ravioli stuffed with porcini mushrooms. I also love the 'spaghetti all' cartoccio', which is spaghetti al dente with mussels, clams, calamari and shrimp baked in parchment paper. One of the best appetizers is with fresh, grated zucchini, parmesan cheese, and tossed in truffle oil. It's served with little toasted breads covered with mushroom pate'. Mmmm mmmm! The meats are extra succulent and abundant. If tuna is the fish of the day, make sure you order it!! It's lightly seared with peppercorn or sliced thinly in a sashimi-like appetizer. Delicious! Oh, and the tiramisu' is heavenly.... Cool, modern atmosphere- without pretenses, friendly service. The best Italian in San Francisco - no doubt!
